โ–ถSummary

A concerning raise in racism, hate speech and discriminatory behaviors has characterized the recent years in the European Union, especially among youth. This has led partner organizations to decide to take action and put into practice measures that support the promotion and inclusion of migrant and disadvantaged youth. With this purpose, they want to involve a wide range of groups (youth workers, sport coaches, educational trainers, volunteers, etc.) that has not been trained in this matter but wish to contribute to its development. They will be first consulted to understand the gaps in their knowledge and tools, then trained accordingly. Finally, they will be able to put into practice what was learnt by guiding several sport sessions with a mixed group of migrant and local youngsters. As stated Fin the report Racism, Ethnic Discrimination and Exclusion of Migrants and Minorities in Sport by the European Agency for Fundamental Rights (2010): โ€œSport activities (โ€ฆ) can support the integration of migrants and persons belonging to minorities into society as a whole. These activities will allow the Consortium not only to offer new opportunities of growth and social development to the group of young participants, but also to extend their capacities as active organizations, and to elaborate on 3 tools that can be used by other entities at European level, which are a training format (for individuals interested in using sport for the promotion of ethnically diverse groups), a Handbook of the overall experience (for replications), and a Final Video that will work as inciting/inspiring material. Finally, they will show local communities the benefits of integrating migrants through sport, increasing participation and likely voluntarism inside their facilities.
