GOS - Green Outdoor Sports
▶Summary
“Green Outdoor Sports” is a project that aims to engage citizens of all ages from communities in participating countries to become more physically active by practicing outdoor grassroot sports that connect them with nature and empower them to become more aware and responsible about the environment. Our project will gather 4 organisations (3 NGOs from Romania, Spain and the Czech Republic and a Sport Club from Italy) that will exchange their experience in sport activities/projects and research good practices and innovative ideas in outdoor sports that focus on the protection of the environment (green sports) in their countries and at an European level. Based on this research, they will develop a guide of good practices on how green sports can be implemented within communities in participating countries. Based on the guide we will organize 8 green sport events (2 in each country) that will focus on cleaning/restoring and taking care of the environment. Events will be intergenerational, bringing together 30 participants each (10 volunteers and 20 people selected through a call to action online). The aim of the events will be to increase public awareness and popularize outdoor physical activity, promote green sports and active citizenship to people of all ages within communities and will act as a model for future similar activities developed by participating NGOs and other stakeholders in each country. Main objectives of the project: 1. Increase public awareness, encourage physical activity and active citizenship among people of all ages in participating communities in 4 countries by engaging them to take part in intergenerational grassroot green outdoor sport activities. 2. Promoting green outdoor sports as a way to attract and empower people within communities to become more physically active and civically involved to relevant stakeholders who can develop the infrastructure for implementing such events/programmes in participating countries for different age groups.
