"Digital innovation in sailing β Gaming as a tool for enhancing sport participation" Sport video games have been proven to work as a tool for enhancing physical activity and increasing sport participation. In the time of COVID-19 pandemic, the issue of sport participation has become even more apparent as sport facilities were forced to close. Virtual Regatta is a sport video game, a simulator of sailing. The aim of this project is to comprehend the process and identify good practices in using Virtual Regatta game to promote sailing. The intended outcome of the project is a model of successful diffusion of gaming as a tool for enhancing physical activity and increasing sport participation in sailing. The successful implementation of the project will allow the creation of a roadmap and guidelines based on the pilot implementation in 3 countries by National Sailing Federations. The guidelines will have a form of handbook and Massive Open Online Course for further implementation of gaming (e-sailing) as a tool for enhancing traditional sailing in other European and non-European countries. A research will be performed in order to comprehend the nature and influence of gaming on sailing participation and to inform the implementation and educational aspects of this project. The project consortium consists of International Sailing Federation, 3 National Federations, Sailing Club and a think tank specialized in digital change.
