EDC2022 - European Dream Cup 2022 - Foiling Youth Challenge
▶Summary
European Dream Cup project aims to create a participatory model for a European regatta event which empowers young people (under 20) in creating inclusive "European" crews with athletes from 10 different EU countries. The model foresees in its 1st edition, the participation in the European Dream Cup in Gargnano sul Garda (Garda Lake) and can be later replicated in future similar regattas events in other countries. The project aims to: encourage sport activity among young people, specifically teenager; improve young people psychophysical health; raise awareness about the environmental issues related to the sustainability; promote social inclusion by recruiting volunteers within disadvantaged areas; trying to contain sport dropout in teenagers through the emotional experience of foiling; involve young athletes with an emphasis on equal opportunities and gender diversity; promote networking both at local and at European level; encourage the exchange of competences in the EU partner countries. The project aim to create and disseminate a Vademecum for a new, innovative, model for participation in a sport event dedicated to young people at European level which can then be replicated for future sport events with the same objectives in other EU countries. We would like to create an educational alliance between sailing clubs within Europe and between sailing clubs and schools at local level. The EUROPEAN DREAM CUP 2022 is a new format of international regatta that will take place in Italy in the summer of 2023. The regatta is exclusively for crews of young people aged between 12 and 19, from 12 different European countries and aims to encourage their interest in sailing. The regatta is part of a wider project, which aims to disseminate and promote the culture of sailing in Europe as an inclusive sport able to convey values (such as love and respect for the environment) and unique emotions (such as energy, enthusiasm, passion and sharing).
