โ–ถSummary

The overall aim of this original project is to enhance our knowledge of the design of sustainable sport management (SSM) curricula by higher education institutions and the implementation of sport organisations' sustainable strategies as well as their alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The specific project objectives are to: 1. analyse the conceptualisation, structure and delivery of undergraduate and graduate programmes in SSM in Europe and the USA; 2. analyse the conceptualisation and implementation of sustainable strategies by international and national sport organisations; 3. establish the alignment between the teaching of SSM and the policies of European and some international sport organisations; 4. examine the process of implementation of sustainable sport strategies; 5. establish the economic cost of the implementation of the UN SDG for international and national sport organisations; 6. set up an interactive digital infrastructure for sustainable sport management The project brings together a diverse group of actors from four EU member states and UK and US Universities, the European Non-governmental Sport Organisation, European Association for Sport Management, World Athletics and International Federation of Match Poker. The cooperative partnership thus, involves research/teaching, policy making organisations as well as the most popular sport in the world, athletics and match poker (an esport). Thus, the project will address the common need to help prepare the next generation of managers who will be responsible for implementing the new sustainable policies and strategies. The project will deliver new conceptual insights and practical impacts as well as a digital infrastructure for higher education institutions and sport organisations.
