EB3X3 - Empowered by 3X3

European urban areas face high drop-out rates of youth in sport clubs and a lack of civic participation of youth. Politicians and policy makers lack knowledge on how to facilitate urban sports in a holistic manner. Therefore, EB3X3 uses a participatory approach and aims to increase the participation, inclusion and empowerment of European youth (16-24 years) in underserved urban areas by 3X3 Basketball. 3X3 Basketball serves as a vehicle to enable young Europeans from underserved communities to take ownership over their lives and to become 3X3 leaders in their own urban area. Objectives To increase the sport participation & healthy lifestyle of youth To empower youth and promote inclusion and participation in society by 3X3 Basketball To build capacity and develop skills at organisational and personal level To develop a model for implementation and guidelines for scaling up per country and EU wide. To create awareness of the potential of 3X3. Activities: capacity building of EU X3 facilitators, 3X3 young leaders courses; local pilots, manuals, continuous monitoring, local/national and EU wide community and network building, design model to scale up. Via a strategy for communication and dissemination the project partners will continue to build a network and community of 3X3 for development organisations that strive to make a positive impact in the world of (urban) sports and youth (development) in Europe, also after the project has ended. 4 partners: 3X3 Unites ( Lead) from Netherlands, Streetball Copenhagen from Denmark, 3X3 Academy Düsseldorf e.V. from Germany, Sport University Cologne from Germany On the short term we aim to reach at least 350-500 young people, around 140 stakeholders with the dissemination & networking, and minimum 80 participants in the web seminars with the project. Long term impact; increased social inclusion, physical activity and engagement of the urban youth by 3X3. All tools will be available for the EU. SDG 3, 5, 10 & 11.
