โ–ถSummary

The "Future Steps" project addresses the critical developmental challenges faced by two key groups: children who experienced their early years during the COVID-19 pandemic and future generations increasingly exposed to excessive use of mobile devices. These factors have led to significant risks in motor skill development, including deficits in coordination, balance, agility, and overall physical activity, with long-term implications for physical, cognitive, and social well-being. For children born between 2018 and 2020, the pandemic disrupted crucial early childhood experiences, including active play, outdoor activities, and social interactions. Prolonged lockdowns and the closure of schools and sports facilities limited their opportunities for movement and skill acquisition. Similarly, future generations face growing risks associated with sedentary behaviors driven by frequent and early exposure to digital devices, which often replace essential physical activities. The project, led by USMA Padova in partnership with CERC, aims to develop and implement innovative, evidence-based methodologies to enhance motor skills in children aged 5 to 8. It also seeks to empower educators and coaches with tailored training programs, equipping them to address these emerging needs. Practical pilot activities will test these methodologies, focusing on inclusivity and supporting children with fewer opportunities. Expected outcomes include improved motor skills among children, increased capacity among educators, and the production of scalable training resources. The project emphasizes long-term impact through the integration of results into the regular practices of participating organizations, open-access dissemination of materials, and alignment with European values of inclusivity and educational innovation. "Future Steps" aspires to create a sustainable model for addressing developmental challenges, fostering healthier, more active, and confident generations. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
