Summary

The EARN project aims to equip athletes with essential financial literacy skills, helping them make informed financial decisions throughout their careers and ensuring long-term financial stability and security. Partners are Bulgarian and Romanian NOCs, Bulgarian Ski Federation, Foundation for Research and Development in Olympic Sports, Finland, and League for the Protection of Slovak Athletes. Activities encompass: • Development of a structured financial education framework tailored to athletes at different career stages. • Implementation of 30 SMART FIN TALKS (2 international, 28 national) as peer-learning platforms where athletes engage with financial experts and mentors. • Expert-led fraud prevention workshops, focusing on contract negotiation, financial fraud awareness, and investment planning. • Integration of AI-powered learning tools, providing ongoing financial education and risk assessment resources. • Policy engagement and institutional advocacy, aiming to embed financial literacy in athlete career development programs. Results include: • A comprehensive financial literacy curriculum for athletes. • Athlete-tailored digital financial tools, including AI-driven chatbots. • A sustainable mentorship network through the SMART FIN TALKS. • Policy recommendations for sports federations ensure long-term adoption of financial literacy programs. • Greater financial security and resilience among athletes, reducing risks of financial instability. Indicators: 1200 participants enroll in activities, incl. SMART FIN TALKS, 10 fraud prevention workshops with 300 participants, 200 athletes create personal financial plans, established partnerships with financial institutions, and developed policy recommendations.
