Summary

The Creative Motion project merges theatre, expressive movement, and physical activity to promote active ageing. Traditional fitness programmes often fail to engage older adults due to physical limitations or lack of appeal. Creative Motion overcomes these barriers by offering theatre-based movement sessions, integrating gentle exercises, storytelling, and improvisation to ensure accessibility and enjoyment while enhancing physical health, cognitive function, and social well-being. The project builds community capacity by training sports facilitators, senior-care professionals, and community leaders in Greece, Bulgaria, and Cyprus. A Creative Movement Guide provides structured methodologies and adaptable exercises, ensuring organisations can independently implement theatre-based movement activities. Train-the-Trainer Workshops equip professionals with the skills to adapt exercises, manage safety, and assess impact, ensuring lasting integration within community structures. To secure long-term sustainability, Creative Motion organises public performances where participants showcase their progress through movement-based theatre, engaging policymakers, healthcare professionals, and cultural institutions. A dissemination event in Cyprus will highlight the programme’s impact, encouraging policy alignment. Additionally, an Expressive Theatre & Movement Toolkit and a digital awareness campaign will ensure wider adoption across European networks. Through facilitator training, programme implementation, and policy engagement, Creative Motion offers a scalable, innovative model for active ageing, fostering physical activity, social inclusion, and emotional resilience among older adults. that is published through this page expresses the views of the project beneficiaries only and it does not represent the views of the European Union or the European Commission.
