Building digital media skills to raise climate change awareness among young people

Background The main aim of the project was to address climate change challenge. Aims of the FOOTPRINT project are; - to promote quality and innovation in youth work by building the skills of youth professionals to support them to address climate change issues in their formal, non-formal and informal learning/engagement activities; - leverage the interest of young people in climate change and empower them by building their critical thinking skills especially where climate change and environmental issues are concerned; - encourage young people to be peer leaders and influencers in the fight against climate change. Objectives Objectives of the FOOTPRINT project are; - to provide bespoke in-service training for front-line youth workers to enable them introduce smartphone film making into their everyday practice; - to build key transversal skills of young digital natives through the design and development of an innovative film production training programme using smartphone devices; - to provide a suite of educational resources that develop critical thinking skills to address climate change and motivate them to promote solutions to the many pollutions that accelerate the impact of climate change; - to support young people to script, film, edit and promote thoughtful short films that address a number of critical climate change and environmental topics. Implementation At the beginning project website has been developed. Partners created Dropbox folder for sharing and uploading project documents. Partners developed Dissemination Plan, Evaluation Plan and Risk Management Plan. Partner organized three transnational meetings in virtual form and physical final meeting in Rzeszow in M22. Partners organized also transnational training event planned in the project. IO1 - Inneo has developed learning content for pre-production, production and post-production. In the next phase the testing process has been finalized and in the next phase the whole In-service training programme was translated and produced. After the transnational training event each partner organized piloting on local level. IO2 - FIP has developed learning content for pre-production, production and post-production. Until M11 partners have tested the learning content with stakeholders on local level. This training programme was then translated, produced and piloted by each partner on local level. IO3 - The content of the IO was developed until end of M12 and tested by each partner on local level. Partners conducted activities regarding dissemination, evaluation and monitoring. Achievements The partnership developed following outputs: IO1 - In-Service Training Programme IO2 - Smartphone Film Making Training Programme IO3 - Environmental Awareness Training Resource Toolkit These outputs were translated to partner languages, produced and published on the website of the project. They were also piloted on local level. Four transnational meetings were organized, including three virtual meetings and one physical meeting in Rzeszow. Transnational training event was organized, partners organized also piloting on local level presenting IO1 and IO2. Each partner has organized multiplier event and the coordinator INNEO organized also final conference.
