Recognition of Good VET practice for refugees

Through the application-oriented project results (Online training, manual, tool-box), the special challenges, knowledge as well as skills of VET institutions in refugee integration are communicated. This improves the external quality assessors' understanding of refugee integration, which ensures that evaluation and recognition can be carried out. This in turn leads to feedbacks that can then be used for quality improvement in a next step. Consequently, the project results support quality improvement of the work of the external quality assessors and the stakeholders in the evaluated VET institutions. The project results thus contribute to the mission of European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training (EQAVET), which promotes the implementation of quality standards for VET in Europe.

The conception of the project results will be developed jointly and in constant exchange between the project partners from Germany, Italy, Spain and Austria as well as the critical friends and associated partners. For this purpose, four transnational project meetings will take place in Germany, Italy, Spain and Austria. Since the aim of the project is to generate application-oriented and practical project results for quality assessment and recognition, there will be a close exchange between the project consortium and representatives of external quality assessors. For example, project results will be tested and evaluated by representatives of the target group before they are finalised. Finally, the project results will be made available for free download on the (inter-) national project homepages. The status of the project is announced via a regularly published newsletter. The project results are presented to the external quality auditors of the respective partner country within the four national multiplier events. Publications in national and international journals are also planned to inform the target group and the interested public about the project and its results.

In order to systematically prepare external quality assessors for the specificities of work in the context of refugee integration through VET, 'RecoVET' is developing a concept for external evaluation and recognition of specific quality in refugee integration. It is based on the indicators from the Erasmus+ project 'GoodVET'. The concept of quality assessment/recognition will be translated into three project outcomes and will first consist of an online training for quality assessors to prepare them for the specific challenges in the context of refugee integration. As a second project outcome, a complementary manual for quality assessment and recognition will be developed, which will also serve as supporting literature for the online training. The third project outcome is an application-oriented toolbox for quality assessment and recognition. All three products will be tested and improved by representatives of the target group (i.e. external quality assessors) before their final publication as a free online resource to ensure high product quality. The practical relevance of the project results is additionally ensured by the close exchange with the associated practice partners.
