Objectives

Through this project, the Patient Organizations Platform (POP) and the Malta Health Network (MHN) have sought to raise awareness among companies and employers about the importance of implementing actions to improve the inclusion of people with chronic diseases in the work environment. To do this, the project seeks to create good practices in the field of health promotion and disease prevention in the workplace through the dissemination of informative material. Thanks to the material produced, health will be promoted by raising awareness of the importance of carrying out measures to improve the inclusion of people with chronic diseases. Likewise, it makes visible the benefits for both workers and employers of including these measures, since they contribute to preventing diseases; accidents in the job; reduce sick leave; increase productivity; create a better work environment and reduce conflicts between workers and employers. Finally, having done it between two entities from different countries, we create alliances and synergies between organizations, as well as make visible all the needs of patients beyond the country of origin. In this way, we have inclusive materials in several languages that can be used in any EU country

Impact

Initially planned results have been achieved: Project Management: Through the planning, coordination, monitoring and control of all the activities and resources assigned for the execution of the project, it has been possible to achieve the initially foreseen scope in the established time and estimated budget. Preparation of guides: Companies and workers are more aware of the importance of prevention, health promotion and inclusion in the workplace. All this thanks to the systematization of a guide prepared from the experiences of both patients from Malta and Spain, collected from focus groups, and from the bibliographic review of the state of the art regarding the inclusion of people with illnesses in the work environment National education campaigns (Spain/Malta): Thanks to the content provided through this guide as well as the two videos made from it, companies and staff know measures and know how to implement them to create a fairer working environment, sustainable and inclusive. Final report: Thanks to the preparation of this report, we have been able to systematize the achievements of the project and establish future lines of work between the MHN and the POP to continue promoting the inclusion of people with diseases.
