Consumo consciente (atento) para la responsabilidad hacia el entorno
▶Summary
Concern for the future of the planet has been the driving idea behind CARE. Starting from the premise that exacerbated consumerism is not sustainable, the need to commit to responsible consumption concerns us all. Faced with an economic model that harms the planet and increases the inequality and economic dependence of the poorest, CARE has set out to promote a more austere, conscious and socially responsible lifestyle, in line with SDG12 "Responsible consumption and production". Consumption competes the entire population for a lifetime, and education for responsible consumption that makes people aware of the impacts of their purchases is necessary. CARE has offered this training to the consumer population, providing objective information to increase social and environmental awareness of the impacts of purchasing decisions, addressing the need to promote more responsible consumption in the areas of food, mobility, clothing, and the use of resources such as water, energy, waste management, etc. CARE has also been directed towards the supply side, as it is precisely by acting on demand that the creation of innovative and more socially and environmentally friendly businesses can be stimulated.
▶Objectives
The aim of CARE is to contribute to the health of the planet, people and communities, by promoting responsible consumption, in line with the environmental and social objectives of the UN, the EU and the Erasmus+ programme. CARE promotes a more austere and less hedonistic way of life, healthier living and greater current and future well-being, supporting people for a key skill as basic as taking care of themselves and their environment. CARE seeks to develop an ecological and social awareness in adults, so that people are concerned about the effects of their actions beyond immediate gratification. To this end, it aims to: •Provide objective information on the impacts of consumption on food, clothing, mobility and resource use • Increase social and environmental awareness • Reinforcing the cultural value of moderate lifestyle habits • Promote healthy and conscious consumption, supported by reuse, recycling, and the reduction of unnecessary consumption and waste generation. CARE aims to promote responsible production, by giving visibility to the growing demand for sustainable products, which encourages the creation of more responsible companies.
▶Activities
CARE has carried out activities for knowledge development, management and transfer in socially responsible consumption (SRC), education and training and the promotion of social innovative and sustainable businesses. 1. CARE has researched about the phenomenon of consumption in Europe, identifying attitudes and behavioural patterns, stimuli and barriers to RC, collecting good practices and transferable experiences. 2. CARE has studied policies, public and private initiatives and actions to foster RC: campaigns, projects, and regulations, to produce recommendations for the policymakers. 3. Based on this knowledge a training programme aimed at raising sensitization and education in RC has been developed in two levels, basic and advanced, that has been deployed both virtually and face-to-face, proceeding to its validation for the improvement of its contents. 4. CARE has made a call for entrepreneurial initiatives, offering a space to receive proposals for responsible business ideas whose suitability and viability has been assessed through an own methodology, informing the proposals to the agencies promoting starting-up in each territory. 5. These activities have concluded in project results that have been widely disseminated
