FLY - FINANCIAL LITERACY for Inclusion
▶Summary
The project aimed to enhance adult financial education, crucial in today's world. Financial illiteracy, as per OECD, impacts personal and global stability due to poor financial choices. Policies promoting financial education are vital for economic growth. The COVID-19 crisis worsened global economics, causing income loss and uncertainty, emphasizing the need for financial resilience. Basic economic knowledge is crucial for adults to engage in the economy, yet many lack it, leading to issues like choosing unsuitable financial products or neglecting financial planning. OECD recommends universal financial education from early childhood, integrating it into all school levels. Financial illiteracy affects diverse economic backgrounds, including high-income and educated adults facing challenges in budgeting or managing finances. The Global Attractiveness Index 2020 highlights that financial literacy varies across ages: peaking between 35-44, lower for those under 35, and particularly low among low-skilled adults over 50.
▶Objectives
Our project aimed to: • Creating Financial Culture among adults low skilled. Having a financial culture helps us to make positive choices for ourselves and for society also from an environmental point of view • Engaging low-skilled adults in learning financial The project works to increase financial awareness and self-reliance in Adult Education and community by providingprograms for adults and their families at all age levels. The project aims to be a simple guide within everyone's reach to find the best way to use money, paying attention to theimpact it has not only on our lives, but also on those of others and on our planet. It provide all citizens with some of the tools that are indispensable today to build a peaceful, safe and sustainable future for themselves their familie and the planet.
▶Activities
Our activities were aimed at creating the following outputs: O1: Fly Platform. This is a financial education platform for adults. It is the online ePlatform as an Open Educational Resource (OER) for target groups to access FLY materials and resources; O2: A practical financial literacy assessment tool; O3: FLY free financial learning for low-skilled adults; O4: ETHICAL AND SUSTAINABLE FINANCE IN EUROPE, a report.
▶Impact
Several outcomes were achieved for the target group and beneficiaries during and after the FLY project. These included: Increased knowledge of basic finance. Developed awareness of the true value of money, recognising its importance in fostering relationships and contributing to the common good, potentially leading to happiness. Acquired skills and knowledge to monitor and manage income and expenditure effectively. Improved ability to make sound financial decisions. Effective management of money and debt. Increased willingness to achieve financial goals. Reduced expenditure through better regulation. Improved ability to cope with future economic crises such as that caused by Covid-19. Reduced financial stress and anxiety. Increased ability to make ethical decisions about insurance, loans, investments and credit card use.
