The aim of the PEINTRES-EURO-QUALIF project was to : - to offer a permanent system for maintaining, consolidating and adapting the skills of heritage painters to the relevant level of qualification. - Establish an initial international network of training and certification centres to address a problem common to the 4 partner countries: the lack of training leading to qualifications for construction workers in the approaches used on heritage sites. It sets a precedent and creates a solid basis for future expansion of the network to other countries and other trades in the sector. - make visible the realities of heritage work sites, by focusing on the plastering and painting trades applied to old buildings - to support, through language modules and the setting up of international training and certification courses including mobility on heritage sites, the internationalisation of companies working in the built heritage sector, and thus prepare future heritage painters for European mobility..

.We have held 7 transnational meetings, 8 dissemination events, as well as 3 'chantier- schools for the restoration of built heritage (designed as experiments to test the project's outputs), and a working session on the methods for assessing and validating the professional skills acquired by students from Belgian, French and Italian training centres. On the basis of the common repository of professional skills drawn up in the first year of the project and amended in the second year, the Italian and French partners initiated the filing with national and regional bodies of professional certifications in heritage painting (level 5 for France, level 4 for Italy), while the Italian partner had the regional certifier (Tuscany region) validate the revision of the level of the European Qualifications Framework for the figure of the heritage restoration technician (now confirmed at level 5 of the EQF). The Belgian partner has planned to adapt the common repository of professional skills for heritage painters to EQF level 5 in 2024, in collaboration with the Walloon Heritage Agency and Artemisia, for a first qualifying session in 2025.
