The ECHOES project aimed to support training professionals in the VET system by equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to employ digital methodologies, resources and tools for more effective online education. The specific objectives of the ECHOES project were: - to provide VET professionals with a comprehensive understanding on context, technologies, skills gaps, training needs in the field of online training - to provide VET professionals with a set of knowledge, skills and practical tools required to activate, manage, and monitor online learning pathways, ensuring that their skills align with the distinct teaching approaches typical of vocational education, such as: classroom and work-based learning; job tutoring and accompaniment to work; support for self-entrepreneurship and business creation. - to contribute to the creation of learning pathways at local, regional and national levels (and, possibly, the related recognition systems) for VET professionals, inspired to the relevant European Frameworks

The following activities have been implemented through ECHOES project: i. Development of a Research on the state of art on distance and virtual learning for VET and WBL projects (Project Result 1), through desk analysis and focus groups carried out in the 4 countries of the partnership (Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Spain), which comprises of: - Review and analysis of the best practices (digital environments, programs, methodologies and tools) and skills gaps of trainers and staff in the field of virtual training and the online classrooms for VET projects. - Classification and selection of the training programs and the didactical and technology resources; identification of the needs or conditions to meet for the implementation of the pilot training course in different countries. ii. Development of the ECHOES Toolkit (Project Result 2), consisting of a resource for training professionals, offering a collection of digital tools, categorized by areas of competence (based on the DgCompEdu framework) and explained for application in diverse vocational training contexts, such as: training/training on the job; mentorship and accompaniment to work; support to self-entrepreneurship and business creation. iii. Development of the ECHOES Pilot Training Course (Project Result 3) for the empowerment of digital skills of teachers, trainers and mentors supporting online learning in VET and WBL systems. The course is structured in the form of MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) and categorized by areas of competence (based on the DgCompEdu framework) iv. Development of the ECHOES-OER (Project Result 4) - Design and Implementation of an Open Educational Resource-OER, reflecting the contents of the Toolkit and the Training Course. v. 4 Transnational Multiplier Events held in Italy (2), Spain and Austria. vi. 4 Transnational Meetings held in Italy (2), Spain and Austria. vii. Project Management. viii. Communication and dissemination of the project results. Both the Course and the Toolkit were piloted in the 4 Countries of the Partnership: Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Spain. 50 participants (trainers, mentors, VET practitioners), 10 per country, participated in the pilot activities and assessed the results.

The following outputs and results have been produced by the ECHOES project: - Result 1 (R1): Research on the state of the art of distance and virtual learning for VET and WBL projects (EN, GER, IT, SLO, SP). The research consists of the following main parts: a. Research at European Level – Type: report. The purpose of the research is to provide a European-level overview of the most widely used distance learning platforms, the knowledge and skill gaps among vocational training professionals, best practices, and successful examples to refer to. The analysis was derived from the aggregation of individual researches conducted in the four partner countries, combining data from various sources, including: o national desk analysis carried out by partners on the most important and widely used platforms for distance learning/Learning Management Systems (LMS); o questionnaires administered by partners to target groups composed of training professionals (120 training operators and experts across the four countries); o focus groups organized by partners (involving 40 training operators and experts across the four countries) to gather insights into the knowledge and skill gaps of trainers, mentors, and tutors. b. 4 National Research Reports – Type: report. The 4 National State of the Art and Research Reports (Austria, Italy, Slovenia, and Spain) were developed by analyzing data and information from sector reports, statistics, research, and other sources deemed relevant by the partners. These reports provide an in-depth analysis of the state of the art of distance learning in the respective countries before and after COVID-19, an event that undoubtedly represented a disruptive moment for the development of distance learning and related technological and pedagogical tools. c. The Final Report on the State of the Art of Virtual and Online Learning in Europe – Type: report. This report presents a synthesis of the research findings. It collects and organizes the evidence and main results already illustrated in the National and European research reports. - Result 2 (R2): ECHOES Toolkit (EN, GER, IT, SLO, SP). Type: toolkit. The Toolkit is a web-based resource for training professionals, offering a collection of digital tools, categorized by areas of competences and explained for application in different vocational training contexts: training and training on the job; mentorship, tutoring and accompaniment to work; support to self-entrepreneurship and business creation. The Toolkit offers a classification system for each resource, aligning with the DigiCompEdu framework's proficiency levels—ranging from beginner to pioneer. This helps trainers identify the best methods and tools to meet their needs based on their current skill levels and intended applications in one or more of the relevant areas: o Professional Engagement: Communication and collaboration via digital tools. o Digital Resources: Selection, creation, and management of digital content for online learning. o Teaching and Learning: Using technologies and digital resources to support online instruction. o Assessment: Evaluating student learning through digital (online) tools. o Empowering Learners: Leveraging technologies to enhance student autonomy and inclusion. o Facilitating Students' Digital Skills: Stimulating interaction, collaboration, and creativity in online learning. - Result 3 (R3): ECHOES Training Course (EN, GER, IT, SLO, SP). The course is structured as a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) and is designed to equip trainers, mentors and VET practitioners in Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems with essential knowledge and skills for effective distance/online and digital learning. The MOOC includes lessons, practical resources, external links, and case studies to help trainers acquire skills for using specific online teaching methodologies and resources across the six areas of the DigiCompEdu framework. Closely linked to the ECHOES Toolkit, the MOOC supports the practical implementation of online training courses, fostering innovation and accessibility in VET. Both Results - the MOOC and the Toolkit - are easily accessible in the OER sections of the ECHOES website (see Result 4), offering a cohesive and user-friendly Open Online Center for professional growth in digital education for the development of VET projects. - Result 4 (R4): ECHOES OER - Open Online Resource (EN, GER, IT, SLO, SP). The ECHOES OER include the Toolkit and the Pilot Training Course for teachers and trainers. Resources are available free of any charges. Adapted versions of the OER (Toolkit and Training Course) have been published on E-Pale and OER Commons platforms.
