Our project aimed to increase youth involvement in community and government activities, making their voices heard. We worked with partner organizations to encourage ongoing, meaningful conversations, hoping to boost democracy at the local level and foster a stronger connection to Europe. We wanted youth to play a bigger role in their communities, improving transparency, democracy, and a sense of belonging, locally and globally. We believed this would bring them closer to the EU, sharing best practices and insights for better community integration. The goal was to make decision-making more inclusive and improve the quality and ownership of local policies among the youth. Our partners worked to engage and support youth to be active citizens. We used the project to motivate young people to participate in policy and decision-making, enhancing democratic involvement and encouraging active, informed participation in local and civil matters. We aimed to boost civic engagement and emphasize the importance of active citizenship. Our efforts sought to strengthen democracy by fostering grassroots discussions and participation. The project also aimed to establish lasting dialogue practices in partner countries, focusing on EU discussions.

Our project"Civic Engagement" project was a 24-month effort to boost youth involvement in democracy through key activities like meetings, creating educational tools, and hosting events. Our activities spanned transnational meetings, the development of educational tools, and expansive training and dissemination events. Transnational Meetings and Collaborative Foundations Our journey commenced with three pivotal transnational meetings, each laying a crucial foundation for our project's trajectory. In Norway, we established the initial tasks, timetables, and promotion strategies. Our subsequent gathering in Latvia focused on evaluating our progress and planning future endeavours, notably the creation of a manual, a web platform, and video simulations. The final meeting in Turkey served as a reflective point, allowing us to assess our achievements and discuss the project's sustainability. We developed three key resources: The Manual: An educational toolkit, using Non-Formal Education methods suitable for both in-person and virtual learning environments. Designed to increase active citizenship, creativity, relational competencies, and essential skills among young individuals, this manual was tested during a Learning, Teaching, Training Activity (LTTA). Video Simulation: We crafted mini video tutorials to simplify Non-Formal Education methods, making learning both engaging and accessible through YouTube and our web platform. Web Platform: An open-access digital space was created to host our educational resources, ensuring anyone interested could easily tap into our materials and foster learning opportunities. Learning, Teaching, Training Activity (LTTA) The LTTA, initially planned for 25 youths from 5 different countries, aimed to bolster social, soft, and hard skills. Despite the withdrawal of our Georgian partner, this event successfully took place in Turkey with 20 participants, exemplifying our project's adaptability and resilience. Virtual Multiplier Event We also organized a Virtual Multiplier event, aiming to extend our reach and meet our project objectives effectively. Although we targeted 100 participants, the turnout of 80 individuals still marked a significant achievement, underscoring our dedication to engaging a broad audience and disseminating information. Local Activities: Crucial to our mission were the local activities organized in partner countries. Each organization conducted two local initiatives, designed to foster civic dialogues and discussions that promote democratic engagement and transparent governance. These local activities were instrumental in empowering young individuals to actively and knowledgeably participate in their communities. Our project empowered the youth to take an active role in shaping their communities and by extension, their democracies.

In completing our "Civic Engagement" project, we can report a set of tangible results that significantly contributed to the growth of a strong civil society, where youth play a pivotal role in community development and democratic processes. Our work over the past 24 months has concrete outputs and outcomes that align with our goal of enhancing youth involvement in social, economic, and political realms. Outputs and Achievements Educational Resources Developed: We created a manual incorporating Non-Formal Education methods, suitable for both in-person and virtual learning environments. This manual is designed to nurture active citizenship, creativity, relational competencies, and essential skills among young people. Furthermore, we produced video simulations to provide a clear, engaging introduction to these Non-Formal Education methods, accessible through our dedicated web platform and YouTube channel. These platforms ensure that a wide audience can access these resources freely, fostering learning opportunities far beyond the immediate reach of our project. Learning, Teaching, Training Activity (LTTA): Although adjusted due to partner changes, this crucial activity successfully engaged 20 young participants in Turkey, enhancing their social, soft, and hard skills. This event underscored our project's adaptability and commitment to youth development. Virtual Multiplier Event: Aimed at disseminating our project's findings and resources, this event attracted 80 participants, demonstrating effective outreach and engagement strategies. Local Activities: Each partner organization hosted two local activities designed to reinforce civic dialogues and democratic engagement. These activities were instrumental in empowering young people to actively participate in their communities, fostering a transparent, participatory democratic process. Through these outputs and activities, our project has made significant steps in creating a more inclusive, supportive environment for youth participation in civic life. By investing in youth and their capacity to engage in civil and democratic processes, we have contributed to the strengthening of local communities and the broader national development agenda. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion has been a guiding principle throughout the project, ensuring that the voices of all citizens are heard and valued. This approach has not only enriched the democratic process but also set a standard for how civic engagement initiatives can be designed and implemented to maximize impact. As we reflect on our project, we are encouraged by the steps we have made towards a democratic ideal, where young people are at the forefront of driving change and development in their societies. The "Civic Engagement" project stands as a testament to the power of collaborative, youth-focused initiatives to create lasting impacts on civil society and democratic processes.
