▶Objectives
The primary objective of our project was to support students in developing and broadening their understanding of sustainability issues, including climate change, biodiversity, water, sustainable agriculture and lifestyles. This was accomplished through a series of educational activities and workshops designed to provide guidance and set standards for our learners. We also monitored the progress of project participants: students and their parents through 3 surveys over the whole project. The project aimed to disseminate knowledge and promote sustainable practices to a wider audience. Climate change and sustainability education were the main thematic focus of our project as well as the promotion of practical solutions in schools, such as composting and ecological means of cultivation in small vertical greenhouses created in each partner school. We aimed to raise students’ awareness of organic farming, healthy food and waste management. We also aimed to empower students to act as agents of change, raise their self confidence and develop their communication, social skills and cultural diversity while participating in international collaborative activities. We also aimed to develop students' digital literacy skills and creativity.
▶Activities
Our project activites: planting seeds/seedlings/trees, constructing prototypes of vertical greenhouses leading to the permanent ones adapted to each partner's local circumstances, growing strawberries, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, herbs and flowers using different types of natural fertilisers (aquaponic, hydroponic, rain water and coco pit) including our own homemade compost. participation in webinars and online presentations on the latest achievements in the field of sustainable agriculture incl. meetings with experts, NGO representatives and permaculture workshops; The Turkish team was nominated for the eTwinning national finalists gala for our project Act for a Sustainable Life, where they exhibited all the achievements and presented their work. All schools participated in 3D printer activities, the Romanian partners won the 3rd price in the national competition ‘Made for Europe’ with products created by students - a 3D animated rubbish bin ‘Bob the Robot’. Upcycling activities e.g. tote bag making, art made with waste materials, visits to the local recycling plants, Presentation of results on eTwinning and website: https://actforasustainablelife.edja.pl Each partner won the National Quality Label for eTwinning.
▶Impact
Students used various Web2tools to create: students and parents intoductions with Chatterpix/Avatarmaker apps, calendars with Photofunia, cards and banners with Canva, short films and interviews, animated eco-cartoons with ToonyTools, puzzles with Jigsawplanet, acrostic poems with Jamboard, carbon footprint collaborative work with Kapwing, eBook diary of Polish Mobility with Bookcreator, letters to 2022 using Padlet. Polish and Romanian schools applied for Eco-schools while Turkish team got Bronze Global School Award and TAG certificate for commitment to climate education. Both Romanian and Turkish partners received eTwinning School Label status. Our students and their parents' mid-term and final surveys confirmed noticeable changes resulting in more sustainble lifestyle and raised ecological awareness of their families.
