Summary

We applied for the DIGMA project to tackle the pressing needs of NEETs by harnessing the growing digital economy's potential. Recognizing the widening gap between the digital skills possessed by young adults and the market's demand, especially in the digital marketing sector, we aimed to bridge this divide. Our objective was to provide NEETs with practical digital marketing skills, making them more employable and connecting them to the fast-growing online marketplace. This initiative was spurred by the increasing importance of an online presence for businesses, as underscored by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a significant investment of companies in digital presence. Thus, we aimed to meet these critical needs: 1. Enhance the employability of NEETs by equipping them with digital marketing skills and competencies 2. Bridge the gap between the needs of the labour market and the professional competencies of young people 3. Raise awareness to the escalating importance of ICT and digital marketing skills in different spheres of life The project was designed to innovate by integrating NFE opportunities, “Experienceship” abroad, and a problem-based learning approach, addressing NEETs' educational and emotional stability needs.

Objectives

The DIGMA project was initiated to empower NEETs through education and practical experience in digital marketing, aligning with the vision to enhance their employability and integration into the digital economy. Our main objectives were: 1. Enhance Employability: To significantly increase the employability of NEETs by equipping them with the skills and experiences necessary to secure positions within the digital marketing sector. This initiative aimed at directly linking their new-found digital marketing competencies with market demands, facilitating their workforce transition. 2. Boost ICT Skills: To elevate the ICT competencies among young people, addressing the critical need for digital literacy in today’s technology-driven world. Our objective was to familiarize NEETs with basic digital tools and to deepen their understanding and practical skills in digital marketing, contributing to their personal and professional growth. 3. Raise Digital Marketing Awareness: To cultivate an understanding of the importance of digital marketing across various life spheres. This included promoting self-marketing skills, enhancing the digital presence of youth centers, and demonstrating the value of digital marketing to companies.
