Summary

The EMLT +AI project was developed as a strategic response to a set of interconnected challenges observed both at the national and European levels, particularly in relation to youth unemployment, NEET inclusion, and the education and skills mismatch between educational outputs and labor market needs.• To develop and implement an AI-based career matching platform capable of providing dynamic job recommendations to young people, NEETs, and recent graduates. • To pilot a mentorship model where young participants could engage with experienced professionals to build realistic career plans. • To design a set of online training and self-assessment modules that help participants build digital CVs and improve their employability. • To facilitate corporate partnerships that would open internship and job opportunities to project participants. • To build an evidence-based, replicable model that could inform both policy and practice in career education and youth empowerment across Europe.The project aimed to match young people with expert mentors and companies using an AI-based system that supports early career awareness by aligning education, skills, and interests with sector-specific opportunities

Objectives

The main objective of the EMLT +AI project was to develop a sustainable, innovative, and inclusive career guidance model to reduce the gap between education and employment, especially for NEETs and young jobseekers. The project aimed to enhance early career awareness through digital tools, reduce education–employment mismatch via an AI-based job recommendation system, and support personalized mentoring between youth and professionals. By offering digital CV tools, job-readiness training, and links to business networks, it sought to improve employability and visibility of disadvantaged youth in the labor market. Furthermore, the project initiated cross-sectoral cooperation and built an adaptable institutional model for wider European use. In addition, the research phase aimed to explore the root causes of education–employment mismatch and develop policy recommendations. Creating awareness about this mismatch was also a key goal. Ultimately, the project demonstrated how AI and mentoring can drive inclusion, career ownership, and labor market resilience.

Activities

The EMLT +AI project implemented activities in three main phases: research, implementation, and dissemination. The research phase included a needs analysis on education–employment mismatch and the design of an AI-based career matching and mentoring model. In the implementation phase, we developed and piloted a digital career guidance platform, CV generator, and self-assessment tools. Over 50 mentor–mentee pairs were matched, and online/offline trainings were delivered to youth. We also engaged companies for job and internship matching. In the dissemination phase, we organized panels and events in each partner country, issued 450+ certificates, shared outputs via ECAS, and developed a sustainability plan including a follow-up project for international internships. These actions helped create a replicable career education model promoting lifelong learning and inclusion for NEETs and young job seekers.The AI system also hosted 41 interactive e-learning modules designed to enhance 21st-century skills.

Impact

The EMLT +AI project delivered impactful results in career development and youth employability. Key outputs included an AI-based career matching tool, a Youthpass-aligned CV generator, self-assessment tools, and 41 e-learning modules on 21st-century skills. Over 50 mentor–mentee pairs were supported, 450+ certificates issued, and online/offline trainings delivered in partner countries. The AI system provided personalized career guidance based on users’ interests, skills, and educational backgrounds. Project results were shared via ECAS, partner websites, and social media. National and international multiplier events reached a broad audience of youth workers, educators, and employers. Policy recommendations were developed to address systemic challenges in education-to-employment transitions. In addition, the project produced a multilingual research report including surveys and econometric findings, five academic congress presentations, an AI analytics report, a structured mentoring framework, an e-learning content development guide, 18 newsletters, and the final EMLT +AI prototype product. All outputs—including tools, events, and materials—are accessible via Google Drive and emltai.eu.
