▶Objectives
The project aimed to achieve the following objectives: To foster interest in space, science, technology, and digital art among European students. To create an augmented interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) careers, leading to significant scientific discoveries. To tackle educational gaps within STEM, astronomy, arts, and culture, and combine faculties. To promoting inclusive education, equality in the classroom and future careers, and creating a non-discrimination environment to inspire all students to thrive. To enhance the level and standards of all partner schools teaching, learning, and training by implementing innovative teaching practices that engage students in STEM. To provide tailored resources that meet the national curricula of partner schools, as well as other public EU schools. To create intercultural, social, and relational competencies, where mutual understanding and respect are equally important, promoting inclusivity so all students have equal opportunity in this project.
▶Activities
The project completed the following training subjects: 1) Teacher and student training: 1.a) Teaching about the fundamentals of physics, its methods, impact on various fields of science, and various areas of application. 1.b) Theory of light, from a fundamental perspective, and in the engineering of cameras and telescopes. 1.c) Basic working principles of telescopes, types of telescopes, their applications and usage. 1.d) Fundamentals of photography and basic camera operations. 2) The students learned about astronomy discoveries and what their country offers about space and astronomy related activities. 3) Practical activities: the students learned how to use telescopes and cameras to capture images of celestial objects, while the digital art for astrophotography component focused on techniques for enhancing and manipulating these images. The activities implemented in our project included training sessions on the theory of space, astronomy, and astrophotography, as well as active astrophotography. Tangible results (shared publicly as free source): - Technical Hand book for educators & power point presentations - E-magazine: as a guide for teachers and students - Astrophotography examples from students.
▶Impact
The following outputs have been completed: 1) Powerpoint presentations used during trainings; posted on project website and Klasscement (teachers website) free and accessible for teachers to use. 2) Technical Handbook for educators: for teaching about physics, light, camera, photography, and the telescope (copy sent to the European Commission) 3) Emagazine: with description of all activities - training material - mobility activities - partner schools description- teachers and students feedback of trainings with the results of our qualitative and quantitative surveys, with pictures and partner descriptions and dissemination. Free and accessible on project website, Klascement (teachers platform) and partner school websites. 4) Three trainings:, 1-week mobility training that took place in Nevsehir, Tenerife and Brussels that delivered a combination of interactive Practical and Theoretical training. 5) Photo-exhibition with the photographs taken and edited by students and teachers from partner schools and our team.
