▶Objectives
To strengthen the partnership between the two schools in the field of education and international projects beyond the Erasmus+ project itself. Sharing good practice between educators and sharing information about the functioning of the other education system. Increase the professional skills of teachers in ICT, environmental, science and English language. Using new methods and forms of teaching in both schools. Increasing the skills and knowledge of pupils in English language, IT, science or geography. Developing pupils' key competences, such as tolerance, cooperation, empathy, working with information or respect for people and nature. With the project we wanted to make teaching more attractive and at the same time to improve the educational results of the pupils. Thanks to the project, we also wanted to improve the school environment, for example by cleaning the school surroundings or taking care of the school gardens.
▶Activities
Mutual meetings between teachers and pupils of both schools took place. Activities such as Earth Days were implemented, including, for example, a visit to a wastewater treatment plant, a water museum. Pupils took care of the school gardens and new gardens were built. Environmental excursions were also carried out in the schools' surroundings. These included walks or excursions around the Danube River, in the Moravian Karst, ecological walks in the Petržalka and Medlánky districts. There were also multi-day excursions in the Krkonoše Mountains, Orava and the Western Tatras, Pálava and the High Tatras. The excursions had an intersubject overlap with geography, natural history, history, physics, English language or computer science. In addition, a Czech-Slovak-English language dictionary, an educational publication on selected protected areas and various posters with ecological themes were created. Two school conferences were held in Brno and Bratislava and an exhibition of pupils' artwork. We have also created a knowledge quiz about the partner landscape and a project website where project activities are published.
▶Impact
All project activities had a positive impact on the quality of teaching and the development of pupils' competences. The pupils learned tolerance during the project activities, got to know the natural wealth of their own and neighbouring countries, and multicultural tolerance was promoted. Schools started to use digital technologies more and more effectively. The outcome was outdoor environmental excursions either in the surroundings of both schools, around Brno and Bratislava or multi-day excursions in protected areas. There were also school club events and the school gardens were renovated. A joint English-Czech-Slovak dictionary, a knowledge quiz and a project website were created. An important result of the project is its sustainability. The schools continue to work together after the end of the project. Further visits of pupils to Brno and Bratislava will take place in spring and autumn 2024. During the visits, there will be joint workshops and activities for 5th and 9th grade pupils. In total, there will be 4 visits each school year.
