Objectives

By implementing this project we wanted to create an online platform to support parents and caregivers providing relevant information and formation regarding all the stages of childhood development and parenting without the biases of the white hetero standard norm. We wanted to create a safe space so all different family models can coexist, grow and learn while supporting them with their own problems and realities during these trying years. Our main goal was also to make this project 100% online to make it available for everyone with a device and an internet connection. We understand that it is much easier to find support and information when you live in an urbanized area and have resources to invest in this area of your life but it may not be possible without the resources or you may not find it if you live in an area less populated or rural. We achieved the creation of different communities in our project with different geolocation but with similar experiences, situations and needs.

Activities

We have implemented the activities as planned: General Management: organized via weekly working meetings and monthly strategic sessions to organize, distribute, plan and develop ideas and proposals. Transnational meetings and networking: has been crucial for the development of this project as it has generated space for creativity, deep communication and evaluate and implement changes when necessary. Website creation: it has allowed us to achieve our goal of a meeting point for Spanish speaker parents and caregivers. We have provided articles, videos and infographics about: pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding, childhood development, selfcare, parenting, etc… Support groups: feedback has been very positive and confirmed that this activity was important and relevant for the project. Content creation: we have published from post to conferences which have a medium of a 3 of 5 star rate on our website. Associations and presentation of the project: have provided the possibility of network and the creation of new teams. Dissemination: an Instagram profile with valuable information and more that 1K followers and a strong community in our newsletter which is read weekly by more than 400 people.

Impact

We have created an online platform that gives information, training and support for parents and caregivers from expectancy to adulthood. We provide trusted and scientifically backed up information with different approaches and applicabilities so every family can adapt it to their reality and needs. It is addressed to everyone, specially to parents and caregivers who generally do not fit in the western heteronormative family stereotype. This project is based on the principles of feminism and intersectionality and have focussed on the mental health of parents and caregivers with a positive impact on them and society in general. We have created a community that supports each other and that manifests the need for this platform to exist and to promote a change in our views around parenthood and childcare. We have established a weekly newsletter with relevant information and learnings and we have built a community of almost 500 readers. We have created an Instagram profile where we share information and ideas that have reached +1100 followers. We have done different masterclasses, lectures, talks and workshops around parenting and care and they are available on our platform to watch at any time.
