Objectives

With environmental and climate action at the forefront of the EU's priorities, we aimed to make a meaningful impact by focusing on the tourism industry. The K-TOUR project championed the use of digital and technical tools to establish databases of eco-friendly and accessible tourism businesses. Students transformed into climate advocates, designing and promoting sustainable and accessible travel itineraries that could influence community behaviors and meet the growing demand for eco-conscious tourism. Future tourism professionals embraced green practices, engaged in critical discussions, and explored innovative, sustainable solutions for everyday life. Through hands-on and work-based learning approaches, students produced practical outcomes such as databases, itineraries, and tutorials. This boosted their enthusiasm for their studies and equipped them with the skills needed to thrive in the job market and fulfill their civic responsibilities. Environmental and inclusive values were central to the educational goals, alongside specialized VET (Vocational Education and Training) skills. The international scope of the K-TOUR project expanded students' knowledge, teamwork, and best practices exchange, fostering a European consciousness

Activities

In the K-TOUR project, we implemented various activities. The students started carrying out a survey within their local communities to identify eco-friendly and accessible tourist enterprises and they analysed accommodation, museums and places of interest. The questioinnaire itself was a tool to discuss the project contents. This led to the creation of detailed profiles and databases of these enterprises to facilitate sustainable and inclusive tourism enquiries. These activities where followed by the visit of the most interesting tourist enterprises that came out from the survey. An important part of the implementation has been the workshop on the GALILEO GDS system. The mobilities which involved the students were then focused on the creation of local ecofriendly and accessible itineraries. The students attended workshops to determine the criteria to create itineraries and to quote their tour proposals. We provided students with practical financial planning and business management skills tailored to the tourism sector. Students created and edited videos focused on sustainable city tours, which highlighted the importance of sustainability in tourism and showcased best practices from various cities involved in the project.

Impact

Each acivity provided some outputs. The first acivity dealt with searching for information and creating a database. The students learnt either how to analyse tourist enterprise websites and to conduct an interview with tourist entrepreneurs. They were trained to use these information to organise a database which will be available to the public through the project's website. The second output of this activity was the creation of tutorials on how to plan the database itself. In the second activity the students used the acquired information to develop detailed eco-friendly and/or accessible tourist itineraries. This activity led to the creation of promotional videos to guide tourist in sustainable itineraries of their cities. The final activity completed the itineraries with cost quotations and planning details. We also organized a dissemination plan organising workshops on the project implementation, setting up an informative stand during events, publishing articles on local press and launching a website to share information on eco-friendly tourism options, featuring a searchable database, itineraries, and educational resources, like articles, news, enquiries, etc
