The overall aim of the project was to minimize man-made pollution in the environment due to acute shortages of labours in the water management sector. Therefore, an acute national problem of Latvia and Estonia – the lack of professional and competent young professionals in the water sector – was tried to be solved within the project. Thus, reducing the risks associated with the provision of inadequate water supply and sewage treatment services, which often adversely affects the environment. By implementing the project the competence of trainers and managers of vocational education institutions in the field of environmental sustainability and water sector was developed; vocational education opportunities, considering the requirements and needs of the environment and water sector was improved; a basis for the creation and development of a transnational network between Latvian and Estonian water sector and vocational education sector representatives was created; as well as a promotional material for the water sector was made.

The main activities which were implemented within the project: 1. 3 experience exchange seminars were realized (10th June, 2022, in Valmiera, Latvia; 17th August, 2022, in Jarvama, Estonia; 25th November, 2022, in Riga, Latvia); 2. 2 two-day long capacity building seminars for the trainers and managers of vocational education institutions were realized (3rd-4th October, 2022, Riga and Jelgava, Latvia), 3rd-4th November, 2022, Tartu, Estonia). 3. An audit of vocational education professions (responsibilities and tasks) related to the water management sector was carried out. 4. Attracting potential students to the water management industry by creating and publishing a commercial suitable for social networks. 5. Project management.

1. Developed competences of vocational education trainers and managers within the environmental sustainability and water sector by realising 3 experience exchange seminars and 2 two-day long capacity building seminars in Latvia and Estonia. 2. Promoted interest of the vocational education institution managers in providing a future-oriented and in demand labour market curriculum – the profession of an environmental technician. 3. Prepared project of a consolidated professional education standard – water management equipment and environmental technician – based on the audit of professions related to the water management sector. 4. Created video advertisement in Latvian, Estonian and English to attract potential vocational education students in professions related to the water management and environment sector. 5. A transnational network between the representatives of the Latvian and Estonian vocational education institutions and water management sector was established. New contacts have been made which create the potential for further and possibly wider-scale cooperation.
