Summary

The aim of our project is to enable teachers to create learning environments in touch with nature, to raise awareness about the importance of human behavior in the fight against climate change, and to transform human behaviours that cause environmental damage into positive ones. We applied for this project to raise awareness of climate change among teachers - hence students - to create eco-schools, to create classrooms in nature, and to create natur-friendly quality. Teachers should be aware of "combating climate change and protecting the environment" so that students can also have this awareness. In this context, teachers need to create a learning-teaching environment based on "protecting the environment and combating climate change". Schools need to gain the quality of eco-schools. We carried out the activities of our project in line with these needs and we continued to produce the project results.

Objectives

By implementing the project, we wanted: * To raise awareness among teachers, and indirectly students, that is, individuals who make up the society and have the tools to "combat climate change and protect  the environment". * To enable teachers to create nature-friendly learning environments. * To ensure that the schools in our project become eco-schools. * To create classes connected with nature. * To provide a positive change in the behaviour of students with a focus on turning human behaviours that cause climate change into positive ones.

Activities

* An informative seminar on “Climate Change and Global Citizenship” was held at the 1st LTTA, hosted by Portugal. In addition, visits were made to institutions related to climate change. The studies of the schools that carry out activities on this subject were examined. * Trainings based on "Environmental Education and Innovative Approaches to Sustainability" were held at the 2nd LTTA, hosted by Macedonia which is a joint association. The NGO shared its environmental activities and experiences with other partners. The usage areas and functions of the “Eko-radar” mobile application were examined. Information was given on Macedonia's strategy to combat climate change. The strategy of protecting the natural beauties of North Macedonia was examined. * The 3rd LTTA was hosted by Turkey. In this LTTA, teachers and trainers gained thematic knowledge and skills and applied with a focus on “environment and combating climate change”. Teachers learned about the “eco-school”. They gained experience in making schools eco-schools.

Impact

*Three transnational learning and teaching activities were carried out. *Participants gained awareness of "protecting the environment and combating climate change". *Teachers learned the methods of creating environmental themed course contents. *An action plan has been prepared on environmental, social, cultural and economic values within the school community. *The “environment” theme was integrated with new technologies, which are a rich source of learning materials, and can generate ideas and solutions. *Many people in the school community became more motivated to “make the school sustainable”. * The project provided access to teaching resources, expert knowledge and financial support. *Participants understood better the concepts of environment and sustainability, learned about the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, improvement goals and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and understood the importance of environment and sustainability. *Teachers learned about sustainability issues in the curriculum, which is an innovative methodology in sustainability education. * Teachers and students became aware of the impact of their daily living habits on the environment. * Awareness of responsible consumers
