Return to school. Stay in school. Do not drop out. Compiling a method for motivating students to return to school after having stayed at home (homesitters) or having dropped out. Silverdalsskolan special autism unit in cooperation with ArmenTeKort
▶Summary
Silverdalsskolan wanted to apply for a project where we, together with an European school could collaborate, compare, and conclude our methods regarding children between 10-16 years old, with high absence from school, within among other things, the age group and laws of the country. We had partner schools and organisations ready and available in Sweden. To help us on our side.
▶Objectives
We at Silverdalsskolan wanted to try to find common solutions, signs, and a method that could be used in schools all over Europe to work with children between 10-16 years old, who has difficulties attending school for different reasons. We had an idea to use VR glasses to get the children back into the classroom.
▶Activities
Silverdalsskolan have had meetings between the staff who works with the project. We’ve also started gathering information from our own staff, and other schools in Sweden. Our representative who works with VR glasses has been in contact with a school in Kalmar who uses VR-glasses with great success, we’ve also been in touch with and visited a school in Solletuna who has included VR in their teaching, and discussed future collaboration. We have also started a collaboration with Immersive, a company who works especially with VR techniques. We’ve had meetings with both online with our intended partner in Belgium, and they came here for a planned introductionary visit to see what our side could provide to the project. We had two and a half days of activities set up for representatives from ArmenTeKort and one of their partner schools.
▶Impact
There are no concrete outputs other than the realisation that the collaboration is not possible between our school and their organisation. There is too many misunderstandings and obstacles in the way we perceive the project, and the collaboration/cooperation.
