▶Objectives
In recent years, racist discourse has become commonplace, especially online. Discriminatory prejudices are routinely relayed in public life. It is therefore important to support and encourage citizens who wish to counteract the prevailing racism. It’s why the project CLAP –Collective Learning through Antiracists Production- aims to empower vulnerable adults’ media education skills and in particular media production competences in order to give them the opportunity of speaking up against racism.
▶Activities
Capacity-building activities and resources will be elaborated, tested and assessed with about 50 educators and their groups of adults in situation of exclusion (cultural, linguistic, social, economic):training modules for supporting media production process, media production workshops against racism and a co-design process about activist and advocacy actions to make their production more impactful. Dissemination activities as screenings in festival will also multiply the effect of CLAP results.
▶Impact
CLAP expects to develop the civic media literacy skills of vulnerable adults in order to foster their inclusion and to raise awareness about racism in our society. Training modules, toolkit of activities and activist strategic box would be available in open access for making them and their staff more autonomous and more impactful in their media production initiatives. CLAP consortium expects also the recognition of media literacy as a relevant method for the inclusion of diversity.
