▶Objectives
The project was intended to manage the exchange of experiences and compile knowledge from different European contexts. The material is intended to sensitise event organisers in church and society to the problems faced by people with hearing loss. In addition, the aim was to expand the skills of event organisers such as church congregations and diaconal institutions and to increase the chances of inclusion for people with hearing loss. The perception of the self-efficacy of those affected should be increased, thereby counteracting isolation.
▶Activities
The project group (essentially consisting of 8 people) worked on the topics of the basics of hearing (France - including familiarisation and formalities), acoustics (Sweden), technical aids (Norway) and non-verbal forms of communication (Poland) in presence. The project group consisted of affected and non-affected people, full-time and voluntary workers in the pastoral care of the hard of hearing, aged between 43 and 85. Another component was a video conference on the design of video conferences and their conditions (live notes, automated subtitles as well as technical and acoustic aids). The findings were used to develop a guideline that was presented to a larger group of participants for discussion at a conference in Oslo. Suggestions for improvement were evaluated and relevant contributions incorporated.
▶Impact
The brochure was produced in German (in accordance with the conference language), then translated into French, Norwegian, Swedish, Polish and English and made available for download on the website of the German project partner (schwerhoerigenseelsorge.de/teilhabe-ist-moeglich). It was also printed according to demand (250, 500, 1000 or 1500 copies) in the respective partner country. In addition, a digital version with background information was produced in German and also made available on the aforementioned website.
