▶Objectives
Even before ChatGPT and Generative AI, it was clear that the digital transformation was progressing faster than SMEs were acquiring necessary and adequate digital skills. Therefore, in parallel to the transfer of knowledge to the companies, it must be ensured that the next generation acquires the relevant knowledge during their training. The aim of the project was, on the one hand, to work with vocational school teachers to explore ways of introducing 'data intelligence' and the use of data-based technologies into the classroom and, on the other hand, to familiarise vocational school teachers and in-house company trainers with this educational content and reduce their reservations about AI. On a more general note, the partners wanted to understand how to implement a small partnership within the Erasmus+ project and test the waters for pursuing the topic in a larger context and project.
▶Activities
In two workshops, one in Leipzig and one in Zarautz in the Basque Country, Basque, Italian and German vocational school teachers and trainers were introduced to the topic of data-driven technologies and their relevance for companies and thus also for vocational training. With the participants, we discussed the question of how this topic can be introduced into teaching and in-company training in a meaningful and appealing way. Based on the Basque partner's experience with the challenge-based learning method, we then developed three pilot projects that were carried out in Zarautz and Leipzig.
▶Impact
Exemplary models for project- and challenged-based teaching and learning using data-based technologies for concrete purposes. The piloted modules demonstrate how data and AI can be used to solve a problem by the students in a self-organised way or introduce them to AI-driven tools .
