▶Objectives
The primary objective was to develop new innovative educational material and tools for teachers of nature, science and technology subjects. Our secondary objective was to educate, engage and raise awareness on climate challenges, science, technology, environment subjects through fisheries industry for pupils to become green changemakers of the future.
▶Activities
We did: - A period of preparation and dialogue with schools - Online teaching workshop fo ra school class (workshop by our Irish partner AISR) with educational materials that the school could use afterwards - Project weeks as a lead-up to the festival itself - many of the school facilitated the project week themselves (with assistance, development and educational ressources from us), but Maria from Krog Nobis also visited 7 different schools with some of our educational materials - An online workshop with 6 young people and a political journalist (and former advisor to our prime minister) - together they discussed which topics were relevant to the youth, regarding fishery, and they developed a debate for the festival - Future Fish Festival: Workshops, habor visit, open ships, maritime education fair
▶Impact
We managed to execute a learning festival for around 750 pupils and their teachers with an in-depth learning period leading up it. The teachers got involved and gained new tools, knowledge and methods to work with sustainability, SDG and green skills on their regular curriculum. Several of the teachers were extremely engaged and a passion was lit in them to continue working with topics such as the ocean, local trades, social and environmental sustainability. It was very meaningful and fulfilling for us to see all the children and young people throw themselves into working with these themes that they maybe didn't know too much about in the beginning but were clearly very interested in! We believe that we managed to created young change agents who are passionate about the environment, oceans, and sustainable food supply for the future. During this project, we have really realized just how invested the youth is in sustainability matters.
