Objectives

We want European societies to be more adaptive and inclusive, ensuring the social inclusion of people from vulnerable and marginalized groups by offering a wide range of flexible educational opportunities at all levels - formal and informal - according to the needs of these groups. All this will significantly improve employability, especially for groups normally excluded from the labor market. In particular, they will gain the motivation for social reintegration with increased awareness of their environment, which will make it possible to participate in the life of the community in an active way. Permanent support from mentoring networks and synergies created support sustainable forms of training for the adoption of new anti-discrimination policies. These are the developments that will lead to a resilient and inclusive society, which will enable the empowerment and inclusion of all individuals and provide a solid basis for further action towards promoting social equality and cohesion across Europe.

Within the framework of the project, several activities have been developed related to the fight against discrimination and the social integration of people as well as the strengthening of women through ecotourism. Focus groups were conducted in Greece and Bulgaria with stakeholders, to get information regarding discriminatory attitudes, preventive measures, and the place of ecotourism in the incorporation of discrimination. At the end, a communication bridge provided the way for conversation, managed projects to improve the results and guarantee the continual utilization of conclusions to concerned parties, as well as offering directions and assistance.

Impact

REACT4women has produced tangible results that directly and indirectly benefit rehabilitated women and their respective communities. Some of the key outcomes in this context have involved tailored open educational resources aimed at developing key behavioural, digital, entrepreneurial and environmental skills for social reintegration and employability. Designed a serious digital game as an innovative tool for informal learning, highlighting ecological behaviours and applied skills. On-site ecological activities provided members with hands-on experiences, thus enhancing self-esteem and sense of belonging in addition to consolidating learning. A strong mentoring framework was established where women would be linked to key stakeholders, educators, potential employers and mentors for ongoing support and reduction of social exclusion. The project created awareness of the discrimination faced by vulnerable women and supported their inclusion in social and professional opportunities. It also provided experiential ecological awareness raising to acquire ecological thinking.
