L’Europe des langues, des cultures, des sociétés à travers la jeune création cinématographique

EUniverciné, a collaborative project with an international, intercultural and interdisciplinary vocation, was developed in conjunction with the Univerciné festivals in Nantes: on this ground, innovative pedagogical and scientific mechanisms were collectively developed, which gradually found their anchorage in the training offer of Nantes Université, as well as in a cross-sectoral cooperation initiated by an international network of teacher-researchers. It was this proven synergy between higher education and the cultural sector that prompted the consortium to roll out the training program at European level, the innovative nature of which has been tested and validated in the local context. The project has responded to the growing need for international cooperation and innovation in the film industry (to keep pace with the increasing digitization of cultural industries), the academic sector (to strengthen cooperation between universities and professional sectors), the scientific sector (to develop interdisciplinary and intercultural research in the humanities and social sciences) and the geopolitical sector (to strengthen understanding of European societies and citizen participation, both within and “on the bangs” of the EU).

The project aimed to develop and test a hybrid (face-to-face and distance learning), transnational (collaboration between four countries) and innovative (interculturality, plurilingualism, collaborative interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral approach) training program to : - Democratize and broaden access to European cinematographic creation in higher education - Raise awareness of Europe's cultural and artistic diversity and linguistic pluralism - Diversify training opportunities by perpetuating a program of training in and through the cinema - Introduce students to the challenges and methods of interdisciplinary research - Reinforce the acquisition of linguistic, intercultural, digital and cross-disciplinary skills essential to students' professional and cultural development. The project also aimed to structure a transnational, multidisciplinary network of teacher-researchers around the creation of a training system for and through cinema, transferable to other contexts (as, for example, with the creation of an international master's degree).

The project resulted in several deliverables and outputs: - Educational productions transferable to other contexts: 3 training modules, a training booklet and a best practice guide - Student projects: subtitling of films in several languages, film analysis, dissertations, etc. - Scientific publications (4 in progress) Thanks to a dynamic communication approach (digital, events), the project has consolidated partnerships between European universities, audiovisual professionals and film industry players, fostering transnational collaborative intelligence and the development of high-quality practices. EUniverciné enabled the consortium's teacher-researchers to strengthen their teaching skills and methods and to build their scientific research within an inter-disciplinary network. Students have acquired a better understanding of contemporary European societies and their cultural, artistic and linguistic diversity, and have developed technical, digital, cinematographic and cross-disciplinary skills that have an impact on their student and professional careers. Partner universities have strengthened their internationalisation.
