The ENABLE project aimed to promote the inclusion and social and emotional development of Migrant, Refugee, and Displaced Children (MRD) through culturally sensitive, school-based interventions that addressed the impact of psychosocial trauma. Its specific objectives were to: a) empower primary and secondary schools to respond effectively to trauma cases by developing first-level support mechanisms; b) strengthen teachers' capacities to foster the socioemotional well-being and resilience of MRD children through tailored training and resources; c) raise awareness among educational stakeholders and policymakers about the systemic challenges and policy needs affecting these children, with the goal of fostering more inclusive and supportive educational environments.

The starting point for the ENABLE project was our belief that every child, regardless of their migration background, has the right to a safe educational environment. Given the challenges faced by migrant children – precariousness, language barriers, isolation and vulnerability – we felt it was essential to help establish more inclusive and protective educational frameworks tailored to their specific needs. The project addressed several priority needs: - The need for physical and emotional security for migrant children in educational environments, who often face trauma and instability. - The need to train education professionals (teachers, educators, school staff) in intercultural approaches that are sensitive to migration backgrounds. - The need to strengthen synergies between educational, social and institutional actors at local and transnational level to ensure consistent and sustainable support. - The creation and sharing of tools at European level, highlighting successful experiences in different national contexts and promoting a comparative and collaborative approach.

The ENABLE project has produced several concrete results aimed at improving educational environments for migrant, refugee and displaced children: - A map of existing good practices in trauma-sensitive education, based on experiences identified in the four partner countries. - An online learning platform, consisting of five training modules designed specifically for teachers and school leaders, available in five languages (French, English, Greek, Italian and Turkish) and developing different aspects of intercultural education and the concept of social and emotional learning. - A practical toolkit for educational staff, accompanied by a guidance document containing recommendations for policy makers at local, national and European levels. Both resources have also been translated into the five languages of the partnership. - A dedicated website, centralizing all the project's results, resources and news, accessible to all stakeholders interested in inclusive education and trauma awareness.
