Objectives

The objective of the We Lead project was improve the quality of tourism education in regards to the relevance of women leadership within the THL sector. We wanted to better equip women to use their skills to embrace leadership roles and empower them to face challenges, especially transitions towards climate neutrality. Therefore, our objectives in this project were to: - Equip educators with knowledge of current facts and best practices relating to challenges, development needs and opportunities faces by women in tourism, hospitality and leisure. - Develop pedagogic and digital competencies of 60+ educators aligned with the principles of SDG5 to develop practical skills needed to become agents of change. - Empower women to nurture their leadership skills and become confident about taking on greater challenges in their professional careers. - Improve the health of our planet by creating awareness of associated links between tourism and climate change and how successful female leadership is in the realm of climate action. - Build the capacity of 40+ industry players and stakeholders across Europe so that they become advocates for gender balance and equity in THL. - Actively share and promote the project and make our resources ac

Activities

In implementing the We Lead project, we created 5 Work Packages with activities. - WP1 Project Management: The activities in this WP were focus on overall management of the project. - WP2 Discovery and Research: This WP included 8 activities centered around creating 2 resources and promoting them: Discovery Report & Good Practice Compendium. - WP3 OERs: This WP included 8 activities centered around creating our OERs that consist of 6 modules and 1 educators guide. The objective was to provide VET & HE educators and teaching staff with new pedagogic approaches and teaching resources. -WP4 Gender Advocacy Toolkit: In this WP, 8 activities were centered around creating two resources, a Gender Advocacy Toolkit and a Digital Forum and with a focus on building the capacities of our target audiences to use our resources and become advocates for gender equality. - WP5 Sharing & promotion: This WP has 8 activities that were created to ensure the successful dissemination of the projects outputs.

Impact

In order to achieve our objectives, we created 3 work packages and 6 resources to meet the desired project results: ● Tourism Gender & Climate action: Discovery Report (R1), to improve understanding of the status of women in the sector with current statistics, trends, development needs and outlooks. ● A Compendium of European Best Practices (R2) of Women Making a Difference in Tourism, Gender, and Climate Action spheres, to catalogue and appraise existing approaches. ● Educators Guide to Innovative VET Pedagogies (R3) to make the case for new teaching strategies, highlighting flexible/impactful new approaches to transversal skills including sustainability ● OER’s (R4), provides teachers & individuals with ready-to-use resources for digital, hybrid or in-person classes to understand the leadership skillset and components of effective leadership in gender step change and innovative and achievable approaches to climate action in tourism ● Advocacy toolkit including a Facilitator’s Manual and A Guide to Online Campaigning (R5) ● Interactive Online Digital Hub / discussion space (R6) to engage target groups, enable peer-learning & networking, boost understanding and encourage further use of the results.
