Across Sports Community
▶Summary
We applied for this project with the primary goal of fully understanding the needs of local sports associations and effectively addressing them. Primarily, we focused on enhancing the digital skills of educators and increasing inclusion in adult sports education. The use of digital tools was considered crucial to broaden access to learning opportunities, making them accessible to all citizens. Additionally, we recognized that fostering interdisciplinary communication is vital to stimulate collaboration among sports organizations, both nationally and internationally. Our aim was to establish a movement of collaboration and continuous development involving a wide range of partners across Europe. A key aspect of the project was to overcome barriers and discrimination through sports, promoting greater awareness of diverse cultures and emphasizing the value of diversity as a precious societal resource. Our vision was to create an inclusive and collaborative environment where sports serve as a catalyst for building bridges between communities and promoting values of solidarity and mutual understanding.
▶Objectives
The "aCross Sports Community" project, led by Selva Cooperative and Building Bridges Association, aims to assess and enhance extracurricular sports training potential. Key objectives include: Digital Skills Enhancement: Improve digital competencies of adult educators, coaches, and sports workers through training and tools. Creating Learning Opportunities: Develop digital tools for lifelong learning in sports education. Inclusion and Diversity Promotion: Use amateur sports to promote collaboration and cultural awareness, breaking down barriers. Aligned with adult education priorities, the project aims to enhance educator skills, improve learning opportunities, understand needs, and foster interdisciplinary communication. Overall, the project promotes collaboration and inclusivity in adult sports education.
▶Activities
In our project, we addressed sports clubs' needs through various activities. Firstly, we identified their specific requirements by collecting data and insights, informing future projects. We also established local and international collaboration networks to pool resources and foster cultural exchange. SELVA, our non-profit organization, focused on promoting a healthier, inclusive EU citizenship model and advocating for active aging and employability. Activities included supporting sport associations and serving as a cooperative for Tuscany's social economy. Building Bridges benefited from financial stability for YesEuropa Academy and enhanced networks connecting adult students with innovative sport-related communities. To bolster local development and sport inclusion, especially for disadvantaged adults, we organized talks, workshops, and sport teaching initiatives. Services included support, training, and co-designed spaces for sports activities in municipalities and rural areas. Our "Metha-Coaching" program promoted sport inclusion, and we compiled a catalog of best practices for enhancing inclusivity within the sports community.
