Objectives

The primary objective of our project was to instill environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices among students aged 11-15. We aimed to enhance students' understanding of environmental issues and sustainable practices through interactive workshops, presentations, and hands-on activities focusing on pre-cycling, bartering, and zero waste. Additionally, we sought to encourage students to adopt eco-friendly habits and integrate sustainable practices into their daily lives, both at school and home. Fostering community engagement by involving parents, local stakeholders, and educational institutions in project activities was another key objective, aiming to create a broader impact and promote a culture of sustainability. We also aimed to promote international cooperation and cultural exchange through mobilities and collaborative activities with partner schools in Poland, Greece, and Turkey, enriching students' global perspectives on environmental issues. Finally, we intended to create and disseminate educational materials, such as lesson plans, games and other materials to support ongoing environmental education and ensure the sustainability of project outcomes.

Activities

Our project involved a series of well-structured activities designed to instill environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices among students aged 11-15. Mobilities: Poland: "Try Pre-cycling Before You Recycle" included workshops on pre-cycling and team-building exercises. Greece: "Barter and Save Resources" focused on bartering practices and creating online campaigns. Turkey: "Zero Waste Philosophy" taught students about zero waste practices and their applications. Workshops and Presentations: Conducted various interactive sessions on pre-cycling, bartering, and zero waste. Post-mobility, students shared their knowledge through presentations and workshops for the school community. Erasmus+ Corners: Established in each school, displaying project information and activities to educate students and staff. Community Engagement: Collaborated with local institutions like the University of Çukurova, Erkan College, the municipality of Seyhan, and the Fairy Tale Center in Pacanów to present our project and involve the community. Additional Activities: Bartering bazaars where students exchanged items. Creation of holiday decorations, toys, and shopping bags from recycled materials, environmental competitions, promotional events

Impact

Concrete Outputs: Reduction in Paper Usage: A significant output of our project was the implementation of strategies to reduce paper usage in our schools. Teachers were trained to utilize digital resources and interactive online exercises instead of traditional paper-based methods. This initiative led to a noticeable decrease in paper consumption across all participating schools. Development of Online Educational Resources: We created a variety of online educational materials, including interactive lesson plans combined in a booklet, interactive games, project themed presentations, mind maps, interactive flipbook visible on our etwinning page and project website. Implementation of Waste Sorting Systems: Each partner school introduced comprehensive waste sorting systems. Dedicated bins for recycling different types of waste (e.g., paper, plastics, organic waste) were installed, and students and staff were educated on proper waste segregation practices. Energy Efficiency Improvements: In Poland, as part of our project, we undertook thermomodernization efforts in the school building. This included upgrading the old heating system to a modern, more efficient one, resulting in reduced energy consumption and lower costs.
