The goals of the project were: 1. encouraging the professional development of teachers and their competencies for working with students with special needs through application of modern and scientifically based methods and techniques 2. development of social, psychological, speech- and language and academic competences and encouragement of socio-emotional development of students with special needs through the application of animal assisted therapy 3. encouraging the social inclusion of students with special needs with the help of animals 4. developing tolerance and acceptance of diversity and adoption of European values through joint activities of students from different European countries.

Several activities were conducted that directly involved teachers and students (as well as parents). Beside coordination and management of the project, the dissemination and evaluation of the implemented activities, which were taken care of by the members of the school project teams, the following activities were realized: 1. Project corner (within each school; created project logo) 2. International meetings (2 on-site in Belgrade and Rogaška Slatina;2 on-line) 3. School project on the topic of animal care (free performance by students:drawings, posters) 4. Activity in the animal shelter and veterinary station 5. Visit to the ZOO and Equestrian Club 6. Exhibition on the topic of animal protection (protected and endangered animals; free performance by students: drawings, PPT) 7. Workshops with animals (2 workshops for teachers, more workshops for students, depending on the needs of the students and the possibilities of the school) 8. Making shelters for animals (from recycled material) 9. Creation and translation of the handbook for the application of animal assisted therapy for students with special needs (HRV, SRB, SLO, ENG) 10. Three LTT activities for students and teachers (Vukovar, Rogaška Slatina, Belgrade)

1. At least 10 teachers and professional associates of each partner school acquired basic knowledge about the principles, forms and methods of applying animal assisted therapy in educational work with students 2. At least 20 students with developmental disabilities in each partner school involved in various structured activities in school and outside of school that include animals (classrooms, extracurricular activities, activities in the local community) 3. Achieved 3 joint transnational learning, training and teaching activities in which students from all three partner schools participated, which included the practical application of animal assisted therapy. 4. Prepared a manual (Handbook) with examples of good practice for the application of animal assisted therapy in work with students with special needs (developmental disabilities) in Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian and English.
