▶Objectives
Each activity in our project was designed to foster a more sustainable, health-conscious, and environmentally responsible society. Firstly, the project sought to educate and inspire individuals, particularly students about the importance of adopting zero waste practices. This involves reducing the amount of waste one produces, through means such as recycling, composting, and choosing reusable over disposable items. The project also focused on promoting healthy habits, recognizing the intrinsic link between personal health and environmental sustainability. Lastly, the project aimed to foster a sense of community and shared responsibility. By bringing together participants from various backgrounds through the Erasmus program, the project sought to create a network of motivated individuals and groups dedicated to the cause of sustainability. This community aspect was vital for sharing ideas, best practices, and inspiring each other to make lasting changes. Through this collaborative effort, the "Zero Waste, Healthy Life" Erasmus project aspired to create a ripple effect, encouraging more communities to adopt sustainable practices and make healthier choices for themselves and the environment.
▶Activities
Facilitating information through meanigfull and engaging ativities to our target groups was the primary focus. Achieving 100 percet participation in our schools, informing our parents and comunity through meetings, social media and our local papers. During the project we addressed the individual needs found in each of our schools. While we shared common activities and goals each school took a look at their individual needs and began to scaffold from where they are to reach new levels of Zero waste practices. Some schools were already on a Zero Waste journey, others still needed to catch up. We created a list of activities and practices we already do in our schools and this was a source of inspiration. The activities we shared also targeted specific areas in our Zero waste journey. We wrote a shared story where we brought awareness to the dangers our environment is in, specifically the ocean and how we all need to do our share to help our environment. Teachers received training both in digital pedagogy and by visiting facilities that are at the cutting edge of Zero Waste. Staff members and administrator involment ensured an impact in our schools curriculum to continue our Zero Waste journey.
▶Impact
In the initial stages of our project we conducted a survey to determine where we are in our Zero Waste journey, students and staff answered and from there we determined how to scaffold our actitities so that each partner school can be impacted and the benefits will be palpable. We conducted meetings and had constant communication via whatsapp and google meet. We have a common plattform where we share all our outcomes, information and activities. At the end of the project we conducted the same survey and determined the impact and our challenges. Reflecting on our wins and challenges was an important output shaping our schools have made permanet changes toward Zero Waste. Visiting partners schools we shared our zero waste practices and saw how they were carried out. Each school prepared and presented its own work. All partners implemented the work learned during the visits with students, parents and staff memeber in their own countries. Activities such as drama, painting, games, story writing, reused arts and crafts, outdoor education as well as Zero Waste clubs completed. Schools could compare and contrast our different methodologies by also understanding culture and traditions in each country.
