▶Objectives
The main objectives of the GEMS project can be summarized as follows: Developing adults' digital communication skills: The project aims to enable adult individuals to engage more effectively in the digital world by improving their skills in accessing information, online communication, and digital security. Promoting learning through intergenerational relationships: A model is being developed to support mutual learning between older individuals and young adults. This way, both groups will benefit from each other's knowledge and experiences, enhancing their digital skills as well as their social connections. Enhancing the capacity of adult education providers: The project aims to help adult education institutions and trainers develop new methods, tools, and strategies to address the digital skills of adults. As a result, these institutions will have a broader impact in the field of digital literacy and will be able to reach a larger number of individuals. These objectives have been set to prevent information exclusion caused by a lack of digital skills, increase social participation, and ensure that individuals can exist more safely and effectively in the digital world.
▶Activities
Five key activities have been carried out within the scope of the GEMS project: Step-by-Step Guide for Adult Digital Inclusion (A1): A handbook has been prepared to improve adults' digital literacy, outlining methods and strategies that can be used to enhance digital skills. Intergenerational Digital Learning and e-Learning (A2): A multi-generational learning model and an e-learning platform have been created to develop the digital skills of both young and adult individuals. "European Youth Making Adults Digitally Literate" – EU Best Practice Showcase (A3): A document in PDF has been produced to showcase good and promising practices; An event was held to showcase the compilation of best practices from Europe in a display format. Trainer Course for the Use and Development of GEMS Products (A4): A training program was organized to promote, use, and develop the products of the GEMS project. Final Conference (A5): Four different final conferences were held to support the transfer and adoption of the products and best practices developed in the project to external stakeholders. These activities were planned and successfully implemented to achieve the project's objectives.
▶Impact
The GEMS project has achieved all its objectives and produced an output for each activity: A1: A Handbook for Digital Inclusion of Adults has been prepared. A2: An e-learning course using an intergenerational approach to make adults digitally literate has been created. A3: A Best Practices Showcase for adult education providers has been developed. A4: A training activity has been setup and participated by all partners; Based on the training event and on the cooperation between partners in this project, a scientific presentation has been prepared and presented in an international scientific conference on Education Sciences and a scientific article has been produced for publication in the Conference Proceedings book. A5: The transfer of products and practices to external stakeholders has been achieved. These outputs have concretely demonstrated the project's contributions to adult education, digital literacy, and intergenerational learning.
