The project implementation has achieved the promotion of education that is oriented to real-life needs; the development of competences needed to deal with the problems of today's world; the development of civic engagement, the involvement of students and other partners in tackling air pollution and contributing their suggestions to improve the environment; the awareness of the connection between global, regional and local issues.

We started the project with a thorough preparation, project meetings of partners/teachers and project coordinators.We also implemented a project week on the topic of urban sustainability with emphasis on air quality, its measurement and its impact on our health. This was followed by measuring air pollution on the way from home to school, processing the measured data and preparing a presentation with recommendations for improvement for city officials. Two learning and sharing exchanges took place, one in Bielefeld and the other in the Czech Republic. The culmination of the project was the creation of an online methodology for systemic inspiration for other schools in Germany, Europe and the Czech Republic.

Project week - participating schools in cooperation with selected experts, realization of lectures, excursions and activities on the topic of urban sustainability, air quality, management of pupils' outputs including digital storage for project methodology, publication and pupil exchange. Air pollution measurement - pupils of both schools measured air pollution on the way from home to school, process the data, created a presentation with the conclusions of the measurement including recommendations to improve the current situation. They presented to parents and city representatives who provided feedback and presented back current and planned sustainability and air quality measures. Project weeks with CZ and DE exchange - pupils from both schools attended an educational programme with lectures on sustainability goals for cities and communities, health economics and a field trip to a mobile air quality measuring station. The pupils presented the results of the project week and the air quality measurement week to each other, to a representative of the city, parents of pupils of the school and to public. Development of an online project methodology and a website - which allowed other schools to implement the project.
