Companies 4 Trainees

The C4T partners work with companies, VET providers, VET staff & trainees in a range of contexts in their day-to-day activities. Partners identified the need to bring these target groups VET learners together to increase the number of & the quality of opportunities for transnational work-based learning (TWBL). Our research showed that trainees need both qualifications & work-based experience to access employment opportunities. Therefore, the urgent need for innovative solutions to encourage more companies to engage with the TWBL process was clearly demonstrated. However, companies appear reluctant to host trainees from another country for a period of work-based learning. At the same time, companies are looking for future employees with work experience & so trainees require work experience in order to access the job market & secure employment. This creates a vicious circle & there is therefore a gap between what both employers & trainees require & the availability of appropriate work-based learning opportunities in companies. The C4T project aimed to fill that gap by researching the reasons why companies are less willing to host trainees & proposing potential solutions to encourage companies to host trainees.

C4T AIMED to encourage more companies to engage with Transnational Work-based Learning (TWBL). STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES: 1. Promote & increase opportunities for TWBL opportunities (Priority 1) 2. Increase environmental awareness by focussing on green practices for eco-friendly mobilities (Priority 1) 3. Open up TWBL to a wide range of target groups, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, thereby contributing to social inclusion (Priority 2) 4. Contribute to improving the quality of transnational mobilities (Priority 3) 5. Broaden horizons, increase inter-cultural awareness of the added-value of the EU & European citizenship (Priority 3) OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES: 1. Identify the perceived barriers that discourage companies from hosting trainees in a COVID world through research across 3 countries (R1) 2. Propose new ways to encourage companies to host trainees from other countries for a period of transnational work-based learning: 3. Put forward concrete arguments to justify the benefits for both trainees and host companies of being involved in the work-based learning process.
