The project develops new Global Citizenship Education (GCE) approaches that youth educators can use to navigate the complex and overwhelming issues arising from the climate crisis. It provides spaces to explore difficult knowledge, affective engagement, resilience and collective responses. Through research-based resources and training, the project will build in depth capacity in 92 GCE and youth practitioners working in a diverse range of youth settings, and reach 1300 organisations.

The project has 4 phases: 1) Research with 134 youth educators and young people to identify key issues and learning needs; 2) Development of a training manual to strengthen experienced GCE youth educators’ reflexive GCE capacity in response to the climate crisis; 3) Provision of a pan-European ‘Training of Trainers’ course based on the manual, reaching 32 youth educators; 4) Adaptation of the course materials to reach a wider audience and training of 60 youth workers who are new to GCE.

We expect 80% (of a total of 92 )participating youth educators will report changes in their knowledge, skills and/or attitudes. 10 ‘stories of change’ will illustrate how participants have integrated their learning into their practice. Project materials will reach a total of 1300 stakeholders through partners’ networks, thus potentially influencing the youth sector’s approach to the increasingly challenging issues arising from the climate crisis.
