- A significant increase in self-employment has been observed in many European countries. Particularly noteworthy is the increase in solo self-employment, i.e. people who do not employ any other workers. This development is closely linked to the growing trend of female self-employment. - Women who venture into self-employment often face particular challenges. These include structural barriers such as more difficult access to start-up capital, investment opportunities or loans. In addition, women are often subject to prejudice, especially in industry-specific areas such as the IT or technology sector. These factors negatively affect the perception and evaluation of their competences and skills. - Many women are still confronted with traditional and stereotypical gender roles. These social structures and expectations can make self-employment more difficult. Women are more likely to set up their businesses in low-paid sectors, which is often associated with high investment costs. - Female self-employed people are often affected by precarious income situations.

The main objective of the project was to promote socially and economically sustainable business start-ups by women. The sub-goals were defined as follows: - Increasing the number of female self-employed persons and supporting women on their path to self-employment. - Overcoming gender-specific barriers that put women at a disadvantage when starting a business. - Supporting the creation of sustainable businesses that are both socially and economically viable. - Strengthening the individual potential and skills of women to successfully fulfil their role as entrepreneurs. - Contributing to greater equality in the world of work by supporting women in setting up businesses. - Creating and promoting networks that support women in setting up and running their businesses. - Avoiding precarious income situations and promoting stable, economically viable self-employment. - Supporting women in balancing their professional and private commitments. - Contributing to social and economic development by promoting women as entrepreneurs.
