Objectives

The project's primary objective was to empower primary school educators with the skills and tools needed to integrate emerging technologies into their teaching effectively. This aimed to enhance digital readiness among teachers and, in turn, prepare students for the demands of a rapidly evolving digital economy. We sought to bridge the gap between outdated teaching methods and the digital skills required in the 21st century, ensuring students could develop key competencies critical for their future careers. The project focused on designing a self-paced online training course tailored to educators, addressing gaps in their digital knowledge and aligning with the European Union’s priorities for digital transformation in education. Additionally, the project aimed to foster collaboration between educators, researchers, and technology experts across Europe. This approach ensured the creation of a scalable, flexible curriculum that complemented existing lessons rather than imposing additional burdens. By achieving these objectives, the project contributed to a sustainable model of digital education, improved teaching practices, and ensured long-term benefits for both teachers and students, aligning with European education goals.

Activities

The project implemented a series of structured activities to meet its objectives. A comprehensive needs analysis was conducted, including a literature review and a survey targeting educators to identify gaps in digital skills and technology integration. These findings informed the course's design, which focused on emerging technologies. The course content was developed collaboratively, leveraging expertise from all partners and aligning with pedagogical best practices. A pilot phase followed, where primary school educators tested the course to ensure its relevance and effectiveness. Feedback from this phase was collected through surveys and discussions, which led to improvements to the course design. Furthermore, transnational meetings and monthly virtual check-ins facilitated collaboration among partners, ensuring progress aligned with the project timeline. Dissemination activities were integral, including two events to showcase outcomes, gather feedback, and promote broader adoption. The project also maintained an active online presence, sharing updates via social media and the Erasmus+ platform. These activities ensured the project’s objectives were achieved efficiently, with maximum impact on educators and students.

Impact

The project delivered impactful results, including a self-paced online training course in English and Serbian piloted by 358 educators. The course enabled teachers to integrate emerging technologies like AI, AR, and VR into their classrooms, fostering innovation and engagement. Two dissemination events attracted 141 stakeholders, promoting the course and its impact across Malta and Serbia. Social media activities reached 99.1K users, generating 2.2K views, 626 interactions, and 1.6K link clicks. Women comprised 65.8% of the audience, primarily aged 35–54. The project’s international reach included audiences from Serbia (30.9%), Malta (17.1%), and Portugal (11.4%) to name a few. The project’s website saw 3,453 unique visitors, highlighting strong web presence and interest. Teachers reported the course was effective for personalising learning, creating interactive lessons, and applying adaptive technologies to improve student outcomes. Schools such as Nikola Tesla and Stanoje Glavaš expressed interest in adopting the course beyond the project. These outputs provided a robust foundation for integrating digital tools into education, aligning with European priorities for innovative learning.
