Climate Change: Take Action!

By implementing the project we hoped to achieve awareness of how the climate has changed in our local community, what challenges this has led to, and what might happen in the future if the climate changes escalate. We also wanted to raise awareness among the participants about what measures to take to stop climate change, what they themselves could do to stop climate change, and how climate change is a shared problem all over the world.

The activities we implemented in the project can be divided into two categories. First there were short term mobilities for teachers, where the main focus was on project management, but where also job shadowing was an important part. Then there were the short term mobilities for pupils, where we focused on the project objectives that deal with comparing the two communities in Germany and Norway, and where we also wanted to give the students the opportunity to improve their English skills and boost their self confidence.

The result of the project was two-fold. On one hand we used the project to put even more emphasis on climate change and how this affects our local community, but also the rest of the world. On the other hand we used the project to demonstrate how important it is to work together transnationally, how important it is to master the English language, and how important it is to have cultural knowledge. On a more detailed level we organised a project kick-off where the details of the project was explained, we established an 'Erasmus + Corner' at our school, we had online meetings with our partner school, we organised a 'Walk to School Day', made posters about environment friendly measures to take, and we let the pupils take actively part in planning and carrying out different tasks in connection with the short term mobilities for pupils (for example they planned and carried out a guided tour of the local town). Unfortunately we were not able to arrage as many online meetings as first planned, something which ultimately led to fewer concrete results than first intended, and also that we did not reach all our objectives. The reason for this was problems with access to ICT tools in the German school.
