Environmental research has shown that teachers need to address competency gaps in the field of General Aviation due to the fact that aviation is one of the key sectors of transportation and plays a significant role in economic development. The implementation of the project involved training teachers in this area, recognizing the necessity of introducing innovative training solutions, adaptive learning, providing access to modern technologies, and, most importantly, ensuring a highly qualified training staff. Another goal was to identify the needs of employers in the aviation sector regarding employee competencies, and above all, to improve the quality of vocational education and training in aviation, which will significantly contribute to increasing the number of highly qualified specialists in the labor market—a goal that is especially important in today’s age of widespread globalization.

The visits of both Italian teachers in Poland and Polish teachers in Italy, during which they participated in workshops and laboratories organized at schools, as well as training sessions at companies operating in the aviation industry, were a key part of the project. The meetings, workshops, and open discussions facilitated the exchange of knowledge and experiences related to teaching, as well as practical insights from each teacher. Meetings with aviation industry experts allowed for the expansion of both theoretical and practical knowledge. During the visits to the mentioned countries, the process of creating a report was simultaneously carried out through interviews with teachers and surveys conducted among them regarding competency gaps. The final activity summarizing the project was a dissemination conference, during which a report on competency gaps was presented. The conference was attended by aviation teachers and representatives of companies from the Aviation Valley Association. This provided an opportunity for the exchange of experiences between teachers and industry representatives.

The outcome of the project was the creation of opportunities for the exchange of experiences between teachers and employers from the aviation industry, enhancing teachers' competencies in the field of aviation. This significantly contributed to improving their knowledge and adapting teaching methods to the current standards required in the aviation sector labor market. Participants of the project shared their knowledge with other teachers from different schools, which helped in training students as highly specialized professionals with knowledge that better aligns with the demands of the labor market. Another result of the project was the report on competency gaps, which was created during visits both in Poland and Italy. It was presented at the dissemination conference and subsequently sent to educational authorities, aviation schools, companies in the aviation industry, and training organizations.
