▶Objectives
The objective of the DigiOmica project is to develop an innovative educational curriculum based on ICT, molecular life sciences, and the EQF/NQF strategic systems for the education process. The DigiOmica project's motivation was to provide in-depth insight into the application of advanced molecular technologies for ecological and health outcomes. The project integrates omics knowledge with digital learning approaches in the DigiOmica curriculum, which reveals HE prospects for green and innovation policies in Bulgaria, Spain, and Türkiye. The innovative multilingual blended educational content for HE stakeholders supports HE interdisciplinarity and gives in-depth insight into molecular changes and ecological outcomes. By implementing the project, the realization of the following specific project objectives was foreseen: - Increased activities and practices of project partners institutions. - Enhanced capacity of organizations to work transnationally and across sectors. - Addressed mutual needs and priorities of education and training through improved connections to job opportunities. - Transformation at individual, organizational, and sectoral levels leading to systemic and lasting change in environmental omics education.
▶Activities
DigiOmica's work plan was distributed in four phases covering one horizontal and four specific Work Packages (WPs), with activities as follows. Phase I Planning (before project start) Activities: needs definition, objectives specification, project and learning outcomes shaping, and activity formats determination. Phase II Preparation (1–3M) Activities: structuring of project management (WP1)–establishment of managerial structures and outline of management strategy, tasks scheduling and responsibilities assignment, plan, tools, and measures for quality control, monitoring, and evaluation, budget monitoring, and risk handling, development of shared project ideas and delivery of survey tools, design, and implementation of sharing and promoting results strategy. Phase III Implementation (4–18M,WPs2-3) Activities: development of project results and related deliverables. Phase IV Follow-up (19–24M,WP4) Activities: assessment of learning strategy implementation, delivery of evaluation tools, pilot testing, feedback analysis enactment, sharing and use of the project's results, project sustainability analysis, and post-project operation. ▶Impact
The following concrete outputs and other results have been produced: WP1: Developed procedures, tools, and measures for quality control, monitoring, and internal/external evaluation of project activities and results. WP2: Digital platform for blended, equitable, and innovative education in environmental omics. The multilingual technical framework hosts the OMICS e-learning hub and supports other project activities. WP3: A Digitally-Based Education (DBE) scheme based on EQF/NQF/ECTS principles. Developed innovative, multilingual blended educational content of the DigiOmica curriculum in integrated environmental omics. Designed Customized Learning Pathways (CLPs) for target groups to offer qualification upgrades. Compiled a catalogue of new teaching, learning, and assessment forms in higher education. Produced a Student Toolkit with guidelines on study skills towards academic success. WP4: Established a Concept and guidelines for project results piloting, performed testing sessions, issued Results’ Usability Reports and Results’ Usability Review. WP5: Produced strategy, tools, and channels for sharing and promoting project results, performed dedicated workshops for results popularization, issued analyses’ reports and a review.
