Objectives

ReSENSE's main objective was to provide up-to-date vocational training resources (Activity 3) and equip unemployed, underemployed, and unskilled individuals, as well as recent graduates, with practical and in-demand skills. These skills are applicable across environmental, agricultural, cultural, research, and digital sectors, ultimately enhancing their employability, digital readiness, and contributing to greater competitiveness and economic growth within the labor market. The training courses were developed according to the needs of the market, identified from research and stakeholder feedback (Activity 2), including the following key topics: GIS, Remote sensing, Image processing, Cartography, and Copernicus services, focusing on environmental applications, including agriculture and forestry. The consortium combined hybrid training activities (Activity 5) with an online classroom (CLASS365), offering asynchronous learning (Activity 4), which enabled flexible participation and long-term access to educational materials. By strengthening participants’ technical competencies and promoting digital and green upskilling, ReSENSE supported VET modernization and helped build a more adaptable and future-oriented European workforce.

Activities

The ReSENSE project was designed to address the shortage of skilled professionals in Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and other technologies, which are essential for tackling environmental challenges. These technologies enable monitoring of climate change, land and water resources, and air quality, providing critical insights for sustainable planning, agriculture, and disaster management. However, despite their growing importance many professionals and organizations still lack the expertise or awareness on how to use them effectively, resulting in missed opportunities for innovation and sustainability across Europe. Due to this skills mismatch in the labor market, the project targeted unemployed, underemployed, and unskilled individuals, as well as those pursuing careers in ICT, remote sensing, GIS, and IoT who face barriers to retraining due to limited access, time or resources. To bridge this gap, ReSENSE conducted research and stakeholder surveys to identify industry needs and delivered tailored hybrid and asynchronous vocational training. This approach aimed to enhance participation, improve employability, and promote digital readiness, environmental awareness, and sustainability across Europe’s workforce.
