▶Objectives
By implementing this project, we wanted to ensure that individuals with intellectual disabilities could participate more fully in working life and become independent, productive members of society. Our goal was to raise awareness among employers and society, reduce prejudices, and support the fight against discrimination. We aimed to develop and share sustainable employment models by bringing together partner countries to exchange good practices and strengthen institutional capacity. We also sought to improve the professional, social, and communication skills of participants through international cooperation, helping them acquire new knowledge, skills, and experiences. With workplace visits, training activities, and the sharing of success stories, participants had the chance to observe practical solutions, compare approaches, and transfer positive examples to their own countries. Ultimately, the project aimed to boost the self-confidence of individuals with intellectual disabilities, improve collaboration between families, employers, and institutions, and contribute to the creation of more inclusive and sustainable employment opportunities at local and international levels.
▶Activities
Across five three-day mobilities (Turkey, Portugal, Romania, Poland, Greece), we implemented a coherent set of learning–teaching–training activities to boost inclusive employment. We ran workshops on national and EU legal frameworks, rights, state roles; mapped each country’s current situation and data; and compared protected, cooperative, and personal employment models. Teams presented case studies and video success stories, and vocational schools shared training-to-work pathways (skills teaching, internships, job matching, placement, and follow-up). We organized employer and parent sessions on communication, reasonable accommodations, and legal rights. Study visits took participants to public employment agencies and inclusive workplaces to observe real tasks and adaptations. Each visit closed with evaluation meetings, reflection, and cross-country benchmarking of strengths and gaps. We facilitated intercultural collaboration, problem-solving and data-recording exercises, and built language, digital, and soft skills.
